Hardware from Craigslist?

depends on the owner i my self you build one but if you dont know how there are many videos on youtube.com or there is a picture tut the is really good on this forum. but if you dont trust yourself on building one then you can buy one from many sites

Just make sure you get a newer system. A socket AM3(AMD) or socket 1156(intel) system is what you'll want, ideally. That'd be the Core i3/i5/i7 models for Intel, and Athlon II/Phenom II for AMD. (edit: FYI, Athlon/Phenom x2 does not mean Athlon II/Phenom II)
Do note that AM3 processors will work in AM2+ motherboards...that's alright if you're on a really tight budget but AM3 is better. Usually, if it uses DDR2 it's an AM3+ motherboard, and DDR3 means AM3, though there were a few DDR2/AM3 boards for a while.

I try to have as much dialogue with someone through e-mail as much as possible, that way I can get an idea of what the person is like. If there typin' lik dis moar den likely i wont purcase from them 
And I try to meet in a nuetral location and show proof that it works. Like one time I met a guy at a coffee shop and he brought in the desktop, I brought an LCD (of course cleared it with the manager) and I tested out the desktop.

lol idk it could be a win win if is a dual or quad core that works for less then a computer at like hp then maybe be get it but make sure you test it out and go to my computer (xp) or computer(win7 vista) and right click it and go to properties and see whats in the box

honestly i would avoid it. ive done business with craigslist. worked well but never a computer. for the budget ya might want to start a new post. lots of good info and documentation with pictures for the build. lots here with experience that will help you pick and choose for your budget. might want to try and step the price up a notch. you can do it, and will be fun..... besides success is so sweet!!

well i got the laptop for xmas 2yrs ago it was a dell d600 put 60 bucks into if for ram and i sold it for 180 to build my computer. i guess my mom got if for 80 bucks... id say i did good??? but i do live in WI
to be honost, i was iffy about the whole idea as well, but the other day i posted a socket 775 computer for $75, and had an e-mail and the next day had the guy come over to my house and he bought it from me. i think as long as you can do business through craigslist localy, then things should be good. where are you located anyways. i have alot of components here not being used, and am getting ready to post them on craigslist, so if your intresrted in knowing what i have then e-mail [email protected]

Just as a word of precaution, you might want to have future arrangements in public places with the amount of weirdos out there. I prefer coffee shops as there's always alot of people and even cameras. I had a guy back out of a deal cause he said he didn't want to travel 5 minutes from his place.
And if you want to get rid of stuff, you can always post it in the sales portion of the forum.
