I have a computer brand new assembled everything fine...

PSU
AMD Processor
Memory
CD Drive
Hard Drive
etc etc

Now this has an on board dvi and onboard vga...

connecting my monitor to either of them...when powering on the computer nothing is coming up on the screen....

Anything you think I may have missed?

Do you have a GPU in it?
That motherboard doesn't have on board video.

Onboard Video
Onboard Video Chipset: None

Are you trying to plug the monitor into the onboard COM port?

yeah there is no on board graphics. probably your problem there...

I think I linked you guys the wrong motherboard...

I went on MSI to find something similiar... it's that same motherboard and chip set yet has

hdmi
vga and

dvi

download CPUz from here and click mainboard. That will tell you what motherboard you have (it will say under model)

Do you have all of the power cables in?

It should have:

1 x 20 OR 24 pin to motherboard
1x 4 OR 8 pin to motherboard
1x SATA OR molex to each optical device and hard drive
PCI-e connector to each video card. This varies from card to card, some do not even require one

If you have already installed your OS and set it up then attatched this other monitor, it is very possible it is set up at a resolution outside of the monitors highest native resolution, so is not displaying everything. However I find this highly unlikely as it should show the system posting, heck it should show it booting right up until windows is first displayed

So you can change settings and stuff in your monitor, right? If you can, the power to the monitor is good, but maybe the video cable is bad?
