Is it worthwhile upgrading from Vista 64 bit to Windows 7?

Anyone who has made the change and is happy with it.Currently running Vista 64 on an I7 920 and 6 GB of Ram comp.

Also if I do upgrade will I need a New HDD or can I just delete old one and reinstall clean Windows 7? Seems like I have heard in the past that sometimes it is hard to get every last bit of an Old OS of a drive when wanting to instal different OS?

Yes it is well worth the upgrade. Win 7 is like a cross between XP and Vista. It has the snappyness of XP yet the features and looks of Vista. Best windows to date in my mind. Yes, just delete your old partition and create a new one. Or, you could just run the upgrade instead which will keep your old files and programs.

Honestly, I still don't see what all the rage is over Windows 7... Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the new task bar. I also dislike the new window features (filling the screen vertially when moved to the top edge and such). After Vista SP2 and (some update I can't recall now) the performance is pretty much on-par with Windows 7. Aside from the major Wireless networking improvement, the two operating systems are quite similar.

I know... I'm probably the only person thinking this. Most people at here and at work probably think I'm insane :P

Okay thx for the replies.I guess I can wait awhile and make do with Vista to see how 7 evolves.Alot of people I know still are using XP

what he said :) :good:

Windows 7 is Great,Very fast,reliable and DX10/11 ready.

@ The Other One.....i know what you mean about the Task bar,Ive set mine to look like Vistas :p

The Taskbar can be changed to Vista style, aero in Win7 is more advanced, better compatibilty troubleshooting than in vista etc etc

Sorry I can't give an opinion on the upgrade from Vista as I upgraded from XP, but only to say that the speed of program loading has increased for me so if Vista was a disappointment on your upgrade then W7 will be an improvement in that regard.

Yes, we are of that opinion :P

I'm with you on this one. I have W7 on my other computer and I don't really see what all the fuss is about. Everybody has always complained about Vista but I never have seen anything wrong with it. Don't get me wrong W7 is great but I don't see it being worth the upgrade when you already have a perfectly good OS.

I think your right. Vista works perfectly fine on a decent machine. Win 7 is a fine OS but I wouldn't shell out much cash to upgrade from Vista to 7

I'm still running Windows XP, but the only reason is, is cause of my craptastic computer :P If I had a better computer I'd for sure use Windows 7. I wouldn't touch Vista w/ a 10 foot pole.
