Uploaded YouTube videos look like crap

I'm not sure if others have experienced this, but when I record video on my digital camera at 640x480, it looks fine when I view it on the computer, but once I upload it to YouTube and watch it on their, the video's quality is pretty much shot and looks like crap.

Is their something I need to do before hand to make it not so crappy when it's uploaded to YouTube? Would love some feedback on this.
 
What formate dose your cam record?

I know YouTube dosent like them all but will convert but the end product is crap.

Try converting to AVI or MP4...
 
If you're watching it right after you've uplaoded it tehn no wonder. you need to let the video be processed.
 
Turns out I uploaded a video today and it actually was good quality. Not sure why every one of my videos in the past looked like crap. And yes, I waited for the videos to fully process.
 
If you are multitasking while uploading, sometimes the end product suffers ... I had to completely remake a video one time because of that.
