Budget-Gaming build

Hi. I'm very new to this, but I've already started doing some research and I've changed a build my friend gave me a little. Basically, I want the computer to be able to play up to date games, for example Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

I am unsure of the HDD, I think 750GB is way too much, I could settle for 300-500.

I was hoping you could give me some comments/suggestions.

For the price the 5770 is a decent GPU. If the 5850 is too muich I would stick with the 5770. I just wanted to point it out since it is a major upgrade in performance.
 
Mobo - I personally would get ASRock M3A770DE as a budget mobo. But MSI would do fine.

PSU - OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS / ModXStream Pro OCZ500MXSP at $40 after MIR.

case + DVD burner - check combo

RAM - Go for DDR3 1600 at same price

GPU - For same price, I recommend XFX for their warranty, or go for those with aftermarket cooling which provide better performance.

don't go cheap on the psu. it isn't worth the risk. that and bomber will bi*** slap you internet style if you do :P
i would recommend a 5770. i have one and get great fps with it and battlefield bad company 2. or go with a 5830 or 4870 like bomber said.
i would also recommend getting a phenom II cpu if you can spring a little more money. but if you don't want to pay more you should be fine.
 
Okay. The PSU that bomber posted looks good and is a good price, but can you link me to a PSU on Newegg? I'd much rather buy everything all together from Newegg.

Definetly not going for a 5850 or a 5830. Would you recommend the 4870 over the 5770?

well, you kind of just stumbled upon a pretty big debate that basically comes down to preference. performance wise they are essentially the same, the hd 4870 winning by a little bit (if i remember correctly). however, with the hd 5770 you get eyefiinity, dx11, and less power consumption. are you familiar with the eyefinity and dx11 features at all?
 
eyefinity is something that enables you to have three (or six, depending on the card) monitors hooked up at once and it lets you configure them to form one giant desktop instead of just separate monitors, which means you can game across all of them. however, if you plan on doing this there are other things you need to get in order to have three-six dvi monitors hooked up (since you can only ever have two non-displayport inputs).

dx11 is just the new directx version, but it has many cool new features. for the most part it is an aesthetic update. just google "dx11 vs dx10" and you will see some of the benefits of having dx11. the only problem is there aren't too many games out now that support dx11. but there should be more and more as time goes on.

obviously power consumption is another plus with the hd 5xxx series. they require a good amount of power less than the hd 4xxx series and all of the nvidia cards.

Do Not Want: Rosewill PSU. Get something like Antec/Corsair/Thermaltake/OCZ/CoolerMaster. Yes they are more expensive but your computer won't explode like it will with a rosewill psu.
