When I go to 'My Computer' in Windows XP Pro SP3, it shows I have a floppy drive in my computer. I don't. In fact, I don't even own one. So, how can I get rid of this icon?

I have Windows 7 and it does the same thing.. You can't really permamently remove it, but if you right click on it you should be able to hide it. Try messing a bit around in preferences etc.

Go into device manager and disable the floppy disk constroller. I had the same problem in windows 7 and that's how I fixed it.

Your Bios is probably misinforming windows you have one try going in there and looking for one in there.. I had this a long time ago back in xp and i turned it off in bios and never saw it again..

Yeah that's what it is. Go into your BIOS and under the general information (that displays drives and such) check that 3 1/2" Floppy is set to "Disabled"

Also, ensure that "onboard FDD" controller under integrated peripherals is set to "disabled" as well(of course, if you have that option in your bios that is).

BIOS BIOS BIOS :P I actually flashed mine not long ago. It reset to defaults and created a phantom floppy drive. Just go back and disable it in your bios.
