What are you trying to achieve through networking your computers?

I need a little more information but at a basic level you will most likely need to invest in a router.

have to create a workgroup.

start then right click computer.
properties
goto change settings.
the default is workgroup. hit change tab.
for computer name use what ya want. grandpas computer.
hit radio button workgroup. default is workgroup.
each computer has to be same workgroup name.
the computer name so if your sharing or accessing another computer
you will know which one your looking at. if your networking a say
toshiba_laptop then give it that name so ya know which one your looking at.

hit ok.

now you do the same with all the other computer. need the workgroup and computer name.

then you can goto computer and right click a drive and share.
or you can right click drive from explorer and share.

Or if ya want the other computers to use say your printer then find your printer in control panel and right click share.

then you can goto the other computers like your wireless laptop. control panel / printer / then search for the new printer that is networked.

Do you mean access the files? Or actually control the computer? As has been stated, that post is a little bit vague.

Hi,
Double-click on My Computer.Right-click on icons of drives to be shared by network users.Click Properties.Click Share As. Enter the appropriate information.Learn What Hardware Is Needed Do your homework on the Internet for a basic understanding of the technology.

Purchase the required hardware and cabling for the type of network you want to use. If the network doesn't yet exist, decide on a network type: for a client/server network, you need a hub to connect the computer to; for a peer-to-peer network, you just need a cable. Then choose the data-transfer protocol (typically Ethernet) for the network you select.Install Hardware Install a network interface card (NIC), if your computer or other network devices don't already have them.Install the "T" (normally supplied with the card) onto the back of the connector on the card.Attach the network cable to one connector on the "T."Attach a 50-ohm terminator to the other end if necessary.Connect the cable to another computer's network card, for a peer-to-peer network; to a network connector or switch, if the network is already set up in a building; or to a hub, for a client/server network.Restart the computer.Install the network driver for the network card you installed.Name the new computer to be networked. Enter a user name and password when prompted. Use information provided by your network administrator, if any, or create your own.Check to make sure the system is working.Enable sharing if you wish to share data with other computers on the network .

Thanks
