Hi, I have a problem with my DVD-RW. my DVD-RW cannot burn DVD also cannot read data from dvd or cd. when burning, an error occured. the error is dma csc error. dont know why. i setting both to master.

If you can't read or burn, I'd say your drive is bad. Try booting to some CD and make sure it's not just isolated to Windows. If it's not, new drives are quite cheap.

i try to booting and format my pc using this drive. it can run perfectly. the problem only when to burning a dvd or CD.

Try another Blank Disk of a diffrent brand....some burners can be picky.

You should try another drive with your system or you should try the same device with another system so picture will clear with proper results.

i agree with this. mine has troubles with sony discs but memorex and imation are perfect. a different program can sometimes solve this issue too. for example, if you are using nero to burn try roxio. if your using nothing at all. windows may not be able to use the drive by itself. if you are able to read discs the master/slave settings should be ok. if two are set to master or slave the main board would not see them and you would not be able to do anything with the drives but still make sure one is master and one is slave. master drive should be at the end of the ide cable and slave on the second. or if cable select is jumpered on both drives the computer will determine this for you. if none of that works, time for a newer faster sata drive.

time for a newer faster sata drive.

sata drive will only be faster when running two simultaneos drives with one drive there is no performance increase as a 20x drive will be 20x.
would be easier cabling however

if it is just related to dvd burning check if your using dvd-r or dvd+r someone once advised me that older drives have some kind of compatibilty issue. but this will prob have to a be very old drive

so if using dvd-r use +r and vice versa

Help

This is interesting because I just tried this today. We have a Sony DVD R/RW drive. I have several small mini DVD disks with the typical VOB, IFO, and BUP files. I am using NTI-DVD Maker Gold. Initially the software will write to harddrive or image file to make copy, then prompts for the blank disk. I insert a DVD+R Recordable disk and the software complains the disk is not compatible! What the heck?

My DVD drive is about 5 years old.

You might want to try dvd-r disks as they are usually the best compatible with any machine or device.
