Which out of these cards?

yeah with a 5770 you'll probably use the extra 512 mb of ram. i would definitely go with one of the previously mentioned cards.

512mb is plenty of memory up to 1920x1200. Not many people have more resolution than that.

I have watched my memory usage on the card while gaming at 1920x1080, it's never gone over 300mb.

yeah but if he decides to run eyefinity it would be a good thing to have  so he should probably be safe and just go with a 1 gb version.

Eyefinity doesn't work well on a 5770, I've tried, the card is not strong enough. So roll your eyes somewhere else dumbass.

Size of frame buffer really depends on the game,a game like GTA IV pretty much requires more than a 512mb frame buffer, even at resolutions lower than 1920x1080. And enough with the name calling.

um, i have a 5770 and have tried eyefinity with three monitors and it does work pretty well. besides, the extra 512 mb is worth 8 euro (in my opinion).

Two or three monitors? If two, well thats no big deal yeah of course it's strong enough for that. But you can't play first person shooter games very well on two monitors.

I was running 5760x1080 with a 5830, overclocked, and got 65 average FPS playing COD WAW with a low of 50 FPS. With a 5770, it'd probably be 40's FPS average with lows dipping into the low 30's or even high 20's. Thats lag there, and COD WAW isn't even that graphic intensive.

All I really want is a decent card that will run modern games on high settings. I'm not looking to 'test' the card or 'push' it to it's limits. I just want to play games.

Wait for the prices of 5850 to drop, which should during the holidays.
5770 is good card for current games, I am sure it won't cut Crysis 2 etc.

What resolution monitor will you be gaming with? Are you looking to try eyefinity?

Thanks. I will probably have to wait anyway seeing as I don't have much money spare at the moment.

Well it's just a normal 19" non-wide-screen monitor at the moment, but I intend to upgrade to a 22" HD monitor later on. No, I do not. I don't even know what it is! :D
