So if buy this sata 250gb or 320gb hard drive, would be working with my notebook. are all notebook 2.5 inches harddrive work the same. or do I have to get a specify brand to work with my notebook. My gateway come with Toshiba Harddrive.
Thank you.

If the interface doesn't match, then it will not work. If it's originally IDE/PATA, you must use that type of drive. That aside, any brand and pretty much any side drive would work.

I was thought that The SATA drives are backward compatable. But it seems not. My local computer dealer told me they are different connections. they sell the IDE drive for $12,000 Ja (US$120.00) for 160gb and the SATA 160gb for JA$7,000. (US$70.00). any idea where can get good deal on these old IDE interface drive? I may have to stick with this old 56gb and get an USB 2.0 External 1TB for Far less money than I was quoted.
Thank You.
Paul
