direct3D acceleration

When starting Warcraft 3 there shows up the error: warcraft 3 failed to initialize directx. So i checked internet and a lot of poeple have this problem. The fix according to the creators of warcraft 3 is simple: run dxdiag, open the display tab, disable direct3d acceleration and then enable it.
But here is the problem: I cant disable or enable it in dxdiag. I can see direct3D acceleration: enabled, but there is no button or something to disable it. So is there some other way to disable and enable direct3d accelaration??

thx

directx 11
Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT and newest drivers
AMD Athlon 6000+ dual core
2 GIG memory
vista 32 bits

i already have both
its not a driver or directx problem.
Its warcraft and i am sure i have to disable and enable direct3d accelaration

You just said you can't disable or enable Direct3D, that means it's either a GPU driver issue or DX issue. Try both, restart, then see if it works.

on my other computer warcraft works fine with direct x 9.0c. So i know its because dirrectx 11. How do you chance direct x 11 into direct x9.0c and do the latest games such as cod6 need directx 11?

DirectX11 is a superset. meaning it contains all previous versions of directx within itself (or is atleast compatible with games that use them)

Try reinstalling the game itself.

thanks but i already tried running xp and reinstalled warcraft.

There is a difference between 9.0c and 11. At 11 you cant disable and enable direct3d accelaration and you can at 9.0c. And tahts just what i need to do according to the support of warcraft 3

Vista does not support DX11, a 9600gt does not support DX11, you aren't using DX11.

If you have DX11 or DX10 installed though, you can still run DX9.0c, or indeed any previous DX version

I have updated all my drivers already and i have directx 11. So that shouldnt be the problem.
You don't seem to understand, WoW is a DX9 game, it sounds like you have a problem with your DirectX, like I said before, re-install DX9.0c from the link I gave and then report back.

The version I gave was updated February 2010.

Oh and Aastii, vista does support Dx11. you just needs the latest service pack ;)

@ OP do as advised, reinstall Dx9.

i ma not playing wow i play warcraft 3. And i am sure i have directx 11, so probably just have it installed but not using it. I tried installing directx 9 from your link but then i had this problem. I didnt know the distination folder where to unzip the files.
i also play cod 4 and cod 6 and dirt 2 and they need direct x9.0c so how could that be the problem?
maybe you should lok at this link to know more of the problem.

That further shows that it's a DX issue and not a game issue.

Extract all the files from the download I posted above to your desktop, then launch the EXE and install.

i did what you said, but during installation it gives the following error (translated from Dutch):
A CAB file needed for the installation is not trusted. Make sure that the service Cryptographic Services is enabled and that the certification of the CAB-file is valid.

I dont know what that CAB file is and i dont know what to do. I already tried downloading it again and unzipping.
ps: is it necessary to unzip it to your desktop?

some files werent unzipped yet, maybe it where to much for one time. I unzipped them too, installed, but warcraft3 is still not working. When i do dxdiag, it says that my computer runs on directx11. How can i get directx 9.0c?
Or more: how can i get rid of dx 11?

Does anybody know how I can fix this problem and play a very awsome game named warcraft3?????

ok so it says that i have dx11 but the computer isnt using it. But that means that it isnt a dx problem, so then its a driver problem. But i installed already the latest updates for my drivers. Why the game doesnt work then?

Windows 7 is DX11, but it is backwards compatible with older version. If your game requires DX9, it will use DX9.
