need help on AMD board choice

Hello. i dont know much about what to look for as far as the chipset is concerned on an AMD board. i do know that i want to stay below $125 including shipping, only going to run 1 card, maybe 2 someday, so maybe list both. needs to be overclocking friendly, good cooling, and reliable. for starters ill be running a athlon II x4 630, with either a 4890 or gtx 260. can be micro atx if your linking a 1 slot gpu. i kust really dont know whats good in amd motherboards. thanks

the ones you suggested had north bridge chipset AMD 870, the one above has north bridge chipset 785G... what is the difference? and how to undersatnd which one will be better for a gaming pc(without SLI)...? your personal choice gigabyte one is the best i guess out of these...

The Asus in your link that has the 785 chipset, it is basically a 770 chip board with onboard video and a 710 southbridge. The Gigabyte with the 870 is AMD updated 770 chip and it has the new 850 southbridge. The Gigabyte is a more updated board.
 
I may be missing something here but if you plan to crossfire with a mobo that has your pci express x16 in 8x8 mode it will cut only be able to use half of the performance of each card and. So in your case it would run like a single card, but with double the memory.

Not true. Even cards like the 5770 or 4870 only lose a few FPS. I would say even cards like the 5850 is only a small hit.

thanks...I'll get that gigabyte board then... another thing...since that board supports 6Gb/s SATA, do I have to change or buy a different kind of hard disk drive in order to get data transferred at that rate(I got no idea about this 3Gb/s and 6Gb/s and how it will affect the hard disk I buy...)...

Your fine, they are backward compatible. Plus there are two SATA 3.0 slots
 
can i get my thread back? talk about hijacking. so anyways can somebody comment on the 785g chipset. i was thinking of getting one from msi. its this one here.

i like them both but kind of leaning towards the micro atx, but not sure id the standard atx board handles the 140watt cpus. which one is better and any other opinions on other boards would be greatly appreciated

ya, they are backward compatible as you are saying...but if I want data to be actually transmitted at 6Gb/s, then do I have to get a better type of Hard Drive...?what type of hard drive should I buy?
 
apritim2002, why dont you just start a new thread on what you want to know, and let me find out what i want to know. i started this thread about anamd motherboard, and you got everyone talking about hard drive read and write speeds. yes you will need to get a hard drive that is sata 6 compatible in order to use the sata 6 tech. your standard sata 3 will still work as normal. now go on and start your new thread and leave this one for my thread. and all you diamond, platinum ect ect members, how you gonna let somebody hijack some one elses thread. i remember this place being alot better 2 years ago. what happened?...anyways if somebody can help the original poster (me) with my questions back from page one, then that would be awsome, yet normal at the same time, and tell the hijacker to stop posting unless he can help with the original post.

hey sorry dude...I didnt even know that can be termed as hijacking!!!it just didnt occur to me that someone can be actually pissed off just because someone else is asking a few questions(that also related to computers, not about Shakespeare)... whats the big deal if some1 else asks questions in my thread?i wont bother because everyone's questions get answered...but maybe you are different and every human being can have his/her personal likes and dislikes...anyway why dont you check out the ones suggested by Aastii at the beginning of this thread in reply to my question...
