recycle ideas please

I have an old toshiba satellite 2450 laptop and I trying to think of Ideas to recycle this if possible I would like to reuse this for something else.

I don't have wireless internet on this laptop
Hard drive is probably 40gb or so
I do have windows xp home edition installed but not activated so I either need a key or a new OS.
there are some issues with the lid
some keys are missing frm the keyboard


Through me some ideas.

Try a new OS on it. Linux? I would recommend ubuntu. Or if you are adventurous, try OSX, although we can't help you out with that here.
 
Where can I go for help with OS X? Changing the OS is an idea but not much of a recycling. I dont intend to use this computer anymore.
 
personally part it out on ebay, take the hdd out if its a 40gb ide, that should fetch you 20-30 bucks right there, then just put the laptop on there as-is for parts or repair see you if you get any hits
