Analyze a Hijackthis log for me? Found over 1000 malicious software files

Can someone analyze this Hijackthis log? Running the Malwarebytes program and Spybot Search & Destroy I found more than 1000 malicious software files infesting a laptop I am looking at for a friend. I think I got all the garbage off the hard drive but I want to be sure.

Make sure you download and run it from its own folder so backups can be made.

Can you attach the MBAM log?

There's malware showing in your log.

Download TFC to your desktop.

Open the file and close any other windows.
It will close all programs itself when run, make sure to let it run uninterrupted.
Click the Start button to begin the process. The program should not take long to finish its job
Once its finished it should reboot your machine, if not, do this yourself to ensure a complete clean

Downloaded TFC and I am running it now on this infested laptop. I am surprised the operating system was still working after Malwarebytes removed 1,100 pieces of malicious software and the Windows XP registry was also infected. I also deleted all previous System Restore points.

I will post another HiJackThis log soon.

Please provide an uninstall list using hijackthis.

Open hijackthis, click on open misc tools section, click on open uninstall manager, click on save and save the file. Then copy and paste that log back here.

Also, malwarebytes should have taken care of your bad R1 entries. So please make sure Malwarebytes is updated to the latest version and run a full scan on your system and post the log.

You might also want to download and run superantispyware as it usually catches what Malwarebytes won't.

Hi John, I actually joined a while back but something seemed to wrong with my registration, I couldn't log in, recover my password or re-register. I tried the other day after an e-mail to administration and I was able to register and log in without any problems.

As for Annoyances, it's a sad case there. At one time is was a great forum with a lot of good people, but now you have a bunch of rude, obnoxious people on there.
No wonder no one goes there. I still occasionally try to help out there though.
We did however get Rich Kurtz and appleoddity to join the tech team at WTT, they do a great job.

To get the log for superantispyware, click on preferences, then click on statistics/logs tab, and then open the log and copy and paste it back here.

Did you try to do the procedure I told you in my quote above? Your log appears much better.

However, there are a few entries that need to be fixed yet.

Then go into add/remove programs and uninstall anything that has viewpoint associated with it such as viewpoint media player, viewpoint service, viewpoint manager.

Also I noticed there is no Antivirus software installed on this machine. Please install a free virus program such as AVG, AVIRA or AVAST and scan the system for additional viruses in case they exist. Browsing the web with no antivirus software is asking for problems.

Also you can have hijackthis fix this entry as superantispyware free edition doesn't provide any realtime protection.

I did what you said again Johnb35. I also installed Avast! and I am running another complete scan. I am now finding many .mp3 files infested with malicious software. Man I wish I could just do a reinstallation. This hard drive has so much garbage all over it.

You still haven't uninstalled viewpoint software via add/remove programs because its still in the log. After you do that, you are done.

Avast! sure does slow down the startup on this laptop (it's a Dell Inspiron E1405) but I think it is because it doesn't have much processing power.
