Q9550+GTX470 Bottleneck?

Hey guys!
Here is my dilemma, if it is one.
I currently have a
[email protected] gigs.
4 gigs of ddrII800 and a
GTX 260 vanilla.
I am planning on upgrading to a GTX470 but I am wondering if I will be bottleneck'd by my CPU. I really don't want to dive into the realm of i7 just yet. With the summer being as hot as it is here, I cannot go any further on the cpu clock. How much more fps would I get from say an i7930 with ddr3? Just curious as to what you guys think.
BTW I will play on 1440x900 or 1680x1050 depending on what monitor I feel like playing on.
THANKS!

Depends on what games you run.

in Company of Heroes, my GTX 260's in SLi are bottlenecking my i7. However, in FSX my i7 is bottlenecking my GTX 260s. (proven with the SLi visual indicator).

Just stick with your GTX 260. It will run everything perfectly on those resolutions.

It has trouble with Battlefield: Bad Company 2. That is the main reason for the upgrade

Try updating drivers. My 3870 which isn't anywhere near a gtx260 handles BC2 no problems at all, and that is still when I have the 4th core shut off on my CPU, so you shouldn't have any problems at all.

If you mean on highest settings, I can see why it would struggle. Your CPU shouldn't bottleneck any card out now, unless you have 480's in SLI or 5870 or 59xx in crossfire

What sort of issues?

as for your question on the 470,I dont think your system will bottleneck it,The Core 2 Quad still go strong.

Thanks for the input guys. Well yeah I want to max it out hah. And the charts were extremely confusing lol. I have decided to get the gtx 470 and a water cooling unit. I know this is now not the right area of the forums but if you have any quick water cooling suggestions I would appreciate it. My budget for WC would be 300. I have already tried the Corsair H50 and had horrible results ( my s1283 kills is) Thanks!

Great link for this question!

To the OP. Basically your CPU is fine. The only card that really took a very slight hit was the 5970. The GTX470 is not nearly as fast as the 5970.

If you are going to spend $350 on a GTX470 and up to $300 to WC it just get a 5970. That or spend $400 on a 5870 which is faster than the GTX470. Why get less performance for more money?

I would most likely need a new psu for the 5970 so that's a no go. And I figure I can use the water cooling on my future rig too. Today it was 93f out and my comp was toasty so I need wc to properly cool it/keep my over clock. Thanks again guys for all the help!
