What is best PC Monitor to Buy?

I have been looking thru the reviews, such as cnet, consumers, of 23 to 28 inch PC monitors to buy < $500. I favor the Samsung P2570HD 25" because it has a TV tuner, speakers, and many input / output connections. It is about $300. When I see others in this size range, it does not appear they have the specs of a higher quality monitor. Although the best quality of a monitor is my priority, I would buy something else, Acer, Asus, Dell, etc. if there is a truly notable viewing distinction in it versus this model. Any comments or suggestions that I may want to consider would be appreciated?

Samsung make some awesome monitors :good:, Asus make some real nice monitors particularly a 26" monitor i can recall that has a webcam in it with support for 1920x1200 res. And Dell make reliable monitors i mean they go forever and a day. One i wouldn't go with though is Acer they are dodgy the ones i have experienced shut the display off after a few hours as they have an overheating issue with them which from what i have heard are yet to rectify.

Hsv_Man Has it spot on Samsung do some of the best monitors you can find without a harsh price tag. And he is right about Acer i have had a Acer monitor for 3 years now and i have to turn it off quite a lot because it just gets to hot! Also another monitor maker i have found to be good is LG as they have some good monitors that go at nice resolutions :)

x3 on Samsung

I run 2 Samsung T220HD monitors and I LOVE them.
The only complaint I have is the speakers on them kinda suck, but that's pretty much true of all monitors and TVs.

To me you should consider if you want 16/10 or 16/9. If you are going to mainly watch HDTV then look for 16/9, Frys sells the 16/9 HP2509 for $240 on sale all the time and I think it is hard to beat. I like their 16/10 ASUS 25 also for about $330.

16/10 is nice for the web and non-HD because the TV is not as wide so you get "more" for the size.
