So the story goes: I was playing CSS when the screen froze and jagged lines occurred across it. I attempted to restart the computer thinking "oh great, my graphics card went out..." I push the power button and everything starts up, but there is no output from the HDMI to the monitor. So I remove my graphics card and change the display to go off of the VGA output which is from the motherboard's onboard video. This works just fine. The display looks slightly different but everything else is working properly.
So now I was at the point where I was certain my graphics card had gone out due to the lines across the screen and the fact that there was no output from the HDMI.
I just had delivered today an HIS 5770 IceQ Turbo which I just installed, but when I turn on the PC, same thing happens, no output from HDMI to the monitor. The graphics card fan is running just fine, it is properly seated in the PCIEx16 slot and the 6-pin power connector is hooked up properly. Once again, the VGA output still works from the onboard video.
So now I am lost. I do not know if it is possible for just a PCIEx16 slot to stop working, everything else works just fine, I can do everything I would normally do on my computer (except game) on the motherboard's onboard video.
I also have updated and installed the most recent driver's for this card and still nothing.
If anyone has any advice or if I am just being naive and overlooking something I would really like to know! Thank you.
