Hdmi

Hi there,
I have just bought a HDMI cable to run from my video card to my monitor. Before i got the cable i had dvi, with a dvi to vga adapter, so the monitor was using a vga cable to connect. I have just plugged the HDMI in, and on the resolution it was before(1920x1080), the screen now has a black box around it, it doesn't fill up the whole screen area like it used to with the vga. Is there any way to fix this, or was the HDMI a bad idea? im running windows 7 professional by the way.

Thanks

what video card do you have, im assuming ati? if so go to the catalyst control center, then open up the tab for desktop and displays, then on the bottom left you will see a monitor, click the black arrow, then go to configure and there should be a scaling option, i forgot which direction it was but you have to drag it all the way to 100% or 0%. hope this helps.

Edit: you will see this only when your using hdmi.
