Anoying RAM problem

Hey there people of Computer Forum,
I've got a really anoying problem with my RAM, i got 4x1gb of ddr3 ram in my PC, Bios says theres 4gb in there and memtest shows there's nothing wrong with the modules. But still my windows 7 will only use 2gb (1.99 to be precise) and the other 2gb is hardware reserved. I have 64-bit so that isn't the problem, i removed and checked my processor 3 times if it connect correctly but there isn't anything wrong there as far as i can see.

Does anyone have the solution to my problem? or does anyone know what is causing the problem so i can send something back to the store?

I'll post my rig and some screens down here:

Hello, i had a similar problem before. Have you set the MAXMEM option to anything in the msconfig utility? if you have, go back into the utility, uncheck MAXMEM, hit apply and restart. for some reason using maxmem causes the issue you described.

Check in the BIOS for a memory remapping setting. If you know the motherboard we can look up the exact name of the setting (if it's available).

Go into the BIOS and i think it's chipset features where you configure the memory. at least it is in mine. as cromewell said look for a memory remapping option and switch it off.

Hmm, I couldn't find any reference in the manual for memory remapping or anything similar. It's possible I missed it but you may be stuck unless they've since released a newer BIOS revison that supports it.

is your bios set to share for video? if you've got onboard video and are crossfiring with a card and devoting ram you're overkilling your video needs and hoggin precious memory!

p55-gd65 doesn't have an onboard video.

I'll take a look at bios if i can find anything about memory remapping. I doubt it will be there though. I read in other forums that it's on by default. :(
