ATI 5850 Card 3 Monitor (Eyefinity) Trouble

Hey everyone,
I have a computer on it's way to my house (ordered off of cyberpower). The specs are in my signature.

If someone could answer a few questions about this card that would be great!
1) According to http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/Pages/eyefinity-dongles.aspx , having 3 monitors requires a HDMI port for one (which I will use to go from my PC to my TV), a DVI port (Monitor 2), and a DisplayPort plugin. My question is, which monitors have the Display Port capabilites?

From what I've seen, only Dell has one ($210 -275).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
 
are you looking to purchase the monitors? if so, i wouldn't buy one with displayport already on it, they're overpriced. i would go with a standard dvi monitor and buy an adapter. if you are willing to fiddle around a little, you can just get a $20 one. if not, they are around $100 right now (the adapter).

only one monitor needs to be displayport. the card will work with up to 2 digital inputs (dvi-dvi or dvi-hdmi). for a third monitor, it needs one input to be displayport.

I understand that part. But I guess my main question is:
Is it cheaper to just buy a dell monitor with the display port already on it (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=320-8321) , or is it cheaper to get the regular monitor $110-150, and buy an adapter that would raise the price to match the Dell's.?

One more question, do you lose quality when going from dvi to displayport? I assume it's like going from color-cord to HDMI.

The $20 passive adapters will not work FYI...unless you use a passive Displayport->VGA adapter in which case it will work.

Its generally cheaper to go with a display with displayport. Since displayport and DVI are both digital interfaces, the loss in quality is relatively minimal.
 
I used the display port to VGA adapter (the $30 one) and it worked just fine. You could not tell the quality difference at all even at 1080p.
The only problem I had with that adapter is if you let your monitors sleep, the DP one won't wake back up when you just move the mouse. But all it took was to pull the adapter out, and stick it back in and bam it popped back up to the desktop.

it is a real hit and miss if you just buy a random adapter. if you look online for one that works, it'l do what you said. if not, well, :o, you'll end up spending a couple of hours being pissed off at a little adapter, trying to get it to work, and eventually give up, throw it around a couple of times, and return it...
