Is anyone else having severe problems with Catalyst 10.6?

Boot slows down by 47 seconds
Youtube player is green
GTA EFLC FPS went from 58 to 18 on same settings :eek::eek:
Catalyst Control Centre takes 25 to 40 seconds to acknowledge a change of settings
PC generally slower with the buggy software installed

I have reinstalled, and driver sweeped to see if it was perhaps a corrupt driver, but no game, same all round. Anyone else having problems? Back to 10.5 for me!

Im still running 10.5 here,Il download and try the latest to see what it does here...i plan on formating monday anyway so if it causes it to be slow il go back to 10.5.

Il reply back :)

Edit:

Ive not noticed any slowdowns at all,Also my BC2 framerates have increased...i was getting like 90fps on the map Valprasio or whatever its called just, loading times also seemed faster.

Im wondering if its because your setup with the 4870 and the 2900?

I thought it could be that at first and physically unhooked the second GPU, but its no different. All the 2900 does is power the secondry monitors leaving the 4870 for the primary monitor. Not sure why it could be doing it on my system though, not really seen any other reviews which say it was bad on theirs, except for a handful of people who all had 4870 series cards.

Driver cleaning programs are your problem. I tell this to everybody. The problem is that they mess up registry entries of catalyst and drivers which somehow royally screws over your performance. This is how i install ati drivers:

1) Download latest installer. Run ad extract the files, Then select uninstall and express to remove catalyst and the current drivers. after this it will ask you to reboot which you should do.

2) Run the installer again, this time select install and express. Once it's all done it wall ask you to reboot again, once you do that you're good to go.

Been doing this since catalyst 9.12 and i've had 0 problems... driver sweeper/cleaner just made everything worse, those programs are horse crap.

Ive tried it that way too, first time ive had a problem with ATi drivers since I first got an ATI card on 7.8!

+1

wise words

linkin ive always used Ccleaner after uninstalling old graphics drivers and never had a problem

The new drivers have improved performance for me,BC2 runs better....GTA IV seems to run better too.

ccleaner is different. These "driver cleaners" and crap scan your system and rip out drivers and registry entries willy nilly. ccleaner just cleans up temporary files, empty folders etc
