Can I make my keyboard backlit?

OK guys. I have really been working on upgrading my Dell Inspiron 6000. I would like to know if it is possible to install a backlit keyboard, or make the one I have backlit. (That would be better!)

Well I guess you could open it up and install some LED's. not sure how you'll power them though, either through USB or another power adapter I guess.

Yeah, I am looking into installing leds throughout to put lights through the speakers.

Does anyone know if I could swap out the Latitude e4300 backlit keyboard with this? I would assume not...

You can use any keyboard you wont it's doesn't matter if it's a Dell or not.

Ah I see, Well to install your on LEDs you would need to know how to do some basic wiring, soldering, and where to solder them to get power. If you can confirm that the e4300 keyboard would work then I would do that. Seems like to much of a hassle for just some pretty lights. Might just wont to get a little light that plugs into the USB if you wont to see at night.

Yeah it looks like it won't. None of the keyboard that are backilt seem to be able to fit.

Those looks like they almost could fit. Is there a way I could just whack off the think under the space bar and have it still work? Or would that render it useless?

EDIT- Wait a sec- Am I missing something? How do they connect to the mobo?

You mean the part of the keyboard that is supposed to connect to a motherboard that is nothing like the one you have in your laptop? Yeah, go ahead and whack it off.

Yeah... I realized thats where the plug was. I really want a backlit keyboard, but I don't think that's possible.
