Help Need to Upgrade My Computers

First Computer :

Compaq CQ2302F

Model : Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU 230 @ 1.60GHz
Speed : 1.6GHz
Total Memory (ram): 1GB
Graphics Card : Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family (PS2.0, PCI)

*The Max Ram is 2GB I don't know what processor this computer can handle or What Graphic Card this computer Can Handle.



Second Computer :

Dell Dimention 2400 ( Old Had it for 5 Years )

* Max Ram is Also 2GB, I can only upgrade to this processor: INTEL Pentium® 4 3E GHz HT, 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 cache, 90nm, mPGA478, OEM, and i have no clue what kind of graphics card i can put in.

Question : How Can i upgrade these two computers so that i could Play games Smoothly and have a good computer performance.Also How much Will it Cost to upgrade both of them.

What games and what is your budget!
I know you ask how much would an upgrade cost, but we need to know how much are you willing to spend so we can help you upgrade important bits first. although in your case its hard to say, it all depends on budget and the games you want to play.
 
Upgrade

Need model # of Compaq in order to determine upgradability. As for the Dell, forget about it! The only graphics card it will take is a pci one - good luck in finding one and even if you do it won't do today's games. Save your money, for $500 or so you can get a X3 AMD machine with decent graphics that'll do all but high end games.
 
compaq, it is atom based pc. CPU too weak, no slot for video card.
Dell is too old, even you upgrade, you can't run game smoothly

This

You're going to want a new rig if you want to game. The only thing I can see happening is maybe putting a PCI graphics card in the Dell (pretty sure there's no AGP), but those are fairly expensive for the performance you get and you're limited to low-end cards.

But wow i know my dad bought my the Compaq at Christmas when i asked for a new computer he didn't know what to get so he asked my cousin who's a engineer and i thought I'd get a good computer but then when it comes to my base i was disappointed to this small little thing.. I can't even play games without lagging half the time and the game's i wanna play are like steam based games like counter strike Source i have the game and i can't play it cuz i lagg so hard i can't even move. My budget well idk tbh Just say how much it will cost to make it really good i don't really care how much it cost i wanna know what i can do to make it faster and be able to play games.
 
There are Bare Bones Computer kits available from both TigerDirect and New Egg and if you can follow simple device a plugs into slot a instructions you can build a monster machine for next to nothing. The hardest thing about building one is to remember to ground yourself before installing the Processor and the Memory.

It's not hard at all, but it could be rather expensive for sure. How much were you looking to spend upgrading the other ones?

I agree, it is a lost cause. Today, anyone with a brain and a pair of eyes can put a computer together. If you keep the peripherals from the old one you can put a 15 to 17 hundred dollars computer together for about 5 to 6 hundred.

were can i buy the kit with all the parts :o or can u recommend some that's online and a online store that accepts paypal because i don't got a credit card.
 
That would be Newegg, I believe. VERY few places on the web will match their prices and quality of service.
