nVidia GeForce 7300GT and Windows 7

I have a nVidia GeForce 7300GT PCI-e card installed in my computer. I also have a nVidia GeForce 6100 built-in, but there was a noticeable improvement when I installed the 7300GT:good:. Lately, though, the screen has been flickering on and off like a refresh rate or resolution change. It only does this when the computer has been on for a while (say, 30-60 min) and after I turn off the computer for a few seconds, it doesn't have that problem. I think the card is overheating running 7's graphics, it has a rather wimpy fan. I do not have the dough to get a new card, but is there a replacement fan and heatsink I could get for it, or is my diagnosis incorrect?

Thanks,

It might just need the heatsink taking off, cleaning up + the fan and re-applying some fresh thermal paste....id try that first before buying a new fan. :)

Before doing too much to the card, I'd try another screen on the computer and confirm it is the card.

It IS the card. I tried it out on two other CRTs before posting.

As for thermal paste reapplication, I have some Arctic Silver laying around, will that do? Sorry, I don't know how to post pics, but this fan and heatsink sucks. 3/8" tall heatsink, u-shaped, with 1/16" grooves inside, and a 1 1/2" diameter fan sitting on top. I have two other fans in my system: a 4" dia. located in the front for the CPU, and a 3" fan I added that is located in the back, just over the card. So, the air flow goes from the front to the back, and because of the weird design of this computer's case and motherboard placement, the heatsink and fan assembly is facing up, not down, so there's plenty of airflow.
Today I played Age of Mythology (by the way, great game:)) on XP for 4-5 hours tonight, and the issue didn't happen even once, even though this is a very graphics-intensive game. So, could it be an OS problem? I remember once I uninstalled the nVidia drivers for my card in Win7, and it worked fine for a few days. I haven't played with the advanced settings in the nVidia control panel, so there shouldn't be an issue there.

Thanks for your suggestions, and keep posting.
