Manufactor OS on desktop?

I know when I install a OS on a desktop part of the installation of the OS is where it get your info from i.e. username and password. But when you buy a computer the OS is installed already but you go through when you do that first boot up and enter your information.

I want to build this desktop for a buddy and what I am asking is how to make it look like the manufactor installed the OS. I will be installing ubuntu on there for him.

Use a restore disc that came with the computer from the manufacturer? I don't know if they do that still. The only other thing I can think of is changing the registry settings to display his name but I don't know that that is necessarily what you're looking for. I get what you mean when you say 'make it look like the manufacturer installed' you want it to go through that initial setup, but I'm not sure you can without the manufacturer's disc.

Well, you could at least put the manufacturer's name on it. I know a utility to put a picture in it too, but that may get dangerous on this forum.

You want to make it so that when they boot it up, they have to go through the registration part and set up the initial account?

Assuming this is Windows, you want to google search the sysprep software from MS. It is free and will allow you to "reseal" an installation so they get that intiial set up screen.

Is there something like that for ubuntu? I guess it's like that, it is where you basically set up the computer. Enter your name, password, time zone for you clock. All that good stuff I know I enjoy when I buy a system that I get to set up.
