Few questions for 1st time builder (parts arrive in 2 days)

Questions:

1 – Once built what should I look for when I turn on the pc? I assume you can determine if all the parts are recognized but have no clue how.
2 – How do I begin installing Windows 7? Will the CD drive be recognized by the pc to begin the install?
3 – I tried reviewing the MSI web page to find an online manual but couldn’t find one. I would like to know motherboard headers for the power and reset buttons, as well as lights for the HDD, Power, etc.

1. Turn on pc if alls well it should go into P.O.S.T if not you should hear some beeps which identify the problem
2.If alls well go into bios check your hard drives there and set the first boot order to dvd/cd drive and insert disk, reboot pc and follow instructions to boot from disk
3.You should have a manual with the m/b
 
1. If your parts without any fault, you should see them in the BIOS
2. When you put all parts together, check they are all detected in BIOS, change your first boots to CD/DVD drive in BIOS. Put windows disc in and restart PC. It should run the installation
3. These should all show in user manual come with motherboard.
 
Thanks Devious and Daisy! I am trying to get as prepared as possible before the parts arrive on the 3rd.

Do I need to change the first boot off CD/DVD drive in BIOS once Windows is installed or will it automatically change to start Windows?

You should leave it the way it is. As long as you don't have a bootable CD in the drive, it will scan the drive, and move on, and just boot from the hard drive.
 
I just put together all the parts and hit the power button and nothing happens. I made sure the power was plugged in and the back switch was "on". The power button and reset button glow blue. When I hit power nothing happens. No beeps no sound. I will be up all night looking over this.

What items should I check?

Got the CPU power connector plugged in? Did you put the standoffs under the board in all the right places? Sure you dont have the reset/power button backwards?

Just checked and think I had the LED power button light and switch backwards...switching pc's now to try it.
