video card temp

just built my computer this week and still downloading game off steam so at this point, i didnt do anything with this computer

you might end up having to turn the fan up to something a little higher than auto, maybe try 50% and see if it goes down at all.

yea, i changed fan power level to 80% and in matter of second the temperature dropped to 49C, but is really loud, maybe i should add a fan to the side of the case?

i don't think that would help very much since the cards mostly push the air out of the back of the card.

but what can i do? increasing fan speed does keep temperature down, but it is really loud. btw, all this time, im not doing anything on the computer, is basically idle, so if i play some game...

make sure you have good airflow in the case. make sure there isn't any dust in the card itself. do you have front fans in your case?

Sounds like Nvidia stinged out on the thermal paste. Try giving the company who you bought the card off a ring and see what they can do about it. They might just replace it then and there.

470's and 480's run very hot. Max sustained temp is over 100c, so you're fine. What kind of load temps are you getting?

but it still shouldn't be that hot, even for the 470. checking benches and what other people are getting, it shouldn't require an 80% fan speed to get down below 50 C.
