my video card good enough??

I am starting to play dirt 2 and that is the only game i am really interested in playing, is my video card good enough to run that without any lag or anything? or should i upgrade to something better?
(it is the setup in my signature)
 
You have a nice rig,but that graphics card is your bottleneck!

It will play it,But on what settings im not sure..i bet it would struggle on medium to get decent frame rates...The 9500GT is weak,...not realy good for gaming imo....if you have the money definatly consider upgrading.

What would be your budget?
 
I have somewhat of a budget, not looking to go crazy. What would u recommend looking at disregarding budget. If you were trying to save some money and still get good gaming out of it what do you think?? Maybe somewhere around $150?

Ok, the 5770 is a good upgrade, just make sure you get the 1 gig version. I tried the Diamond 5770 1 gig and it was crap! Wouldn't oc one bit. Of course, this was a non-reference version (get a reference one if you can find it). I now have an XFX 5870 and would recommend that brand all day! Plus, they have the best warranty, double lifetime.

the newer xfx ones aren't the same as the older ones. only 1 crossfire slot and is missing a power phase. i'd stick with sapphire, asus, or gigabyte.

Im sure those brands are great, just was speaking from actual personal usage. And I was speaking about the XFX 5870 in reference to the brand, not the card. The main thing is get a reference style card. They are way better as far as cooling and OCing if you want more bang for your buck.
 
Nice rig by the way. Hows the 5970? Worth the price of admission? I know my 5870 wasn't cheap. I had to really debate with myself whether or not it was worth eating ramen noodles for 2 weeks to afford it. Lol.

i was able to get it slightly used for $500 if i remember correctly. very easy to overclock to the 5870's specs while keeping the temps down. if i had the money, i'd get some watercooling going and go further but oh well. powers my eyefinity setup well enough as it is :P

WOW! only $500! As you removed the card from your victim, did you at least hold him at gun point while you robbed him? Lol. What are your temps like? My 5870 (OCd to 875/1300) runs like 40c under low load like web browsing and 50-55c under heavy game play :D
 
idle around 40 C with 50% fan and around 70 C peak 100% fan. like i said, i wish i had watercooling.

to the op, definitely consider the 5770. it should be able to handle modern games at medium settings.

Actually alot of the non reference cards have better cooling systems.
 
To the OP,Linkin has a XFX 5770 for sale in the For Sale section of this forum,hes in Ausland though.
 
Well mine's gone, sorry. But i will vouch for the 5770. until the GTS 450 comes out anyway.

I paif $230 AUD for my 5770 a few months after launch. that price can almost get you a GTX 460 now.

Speaking of which, I'm buying a 460 soon.
