Building a tower Comp with 6 Int HD's

Hi.
for a certain project i have i need a computer with around 10-12TB.
I was wondering if it would work if i build a computer with an TOWER case that has 6 slots of 3.5 for HD's where i can put 6 2TB HD's.

My question is if this is technical possible, what kind of motherboard,cpu & RAM i would need to make this possible? and would the fact that i have 6 INTERNAL HD's would make me need a powerful combination of hardware?

The purpose of the system is only storage and not working with lots of software...

What sort of price range are we talking, and what sort of use? If pure storage you won't need much processing power at all, but the budget is relatively important(budget for mobo+cpu specifically).
 
Like i said. the main usage of the computer will be storage only. No software work except regular computer use.
I cant say an exact budget but i wouldn't want to spend more money than what i really need... so if you can recommend regarding only the needs for this specific computer it could be great...

In that case you could cheap it out with the Mobo/CPU - get an AM3 board with 6 SATA ports (quite expensive), and then an Athlon II X2 2**?

You should be fine with integrated graphics. If not, get a 40 bucks GPU (HD 5450, anyone?)

Get 2GB of RAM or so, the only components you'll be spending alot on is all those HDD's, and the Mobo will be fairly pricey for an AM3 board.

Also, for a large amount of data like this, ensure that you have a good quality power supply unit, wouldn't want to risk all that data to a cheap unit.
