GPU Swap causes no response

I replaced my 9800GT with a GTX 260 from a trade and after installing it and hooking the power up to it, my computer turns on with no response. Everything turns on (fans, CPU creates heat, hard drives spins) but there is no beep for successful boot or beeps for troubleshooting. I'm really fed up with stuff right now, so if you know what's going on, please go the extra step and make it a simple step by step process to figure out my issue.

Have you got any extra devices other than the necessary components to boot. I mean such as any pci cards take them out and boot up again otherwise whats the rest of your specs.

No other PCI devices.

I don't have another rig...

I did unplug the Hard drive and moved it to another spot to make room for the GPU. I don't think that's the problem though... I do notice that all fans that the motherboard controls are going at 100% while the computer doesn't respond. Another thing I noticed is that on one DVI port, the monitor's light was green like it was displaying something but there wasn't anything on the screen. The other DVI port leaves the light orange (no input/idle).

Fully seated in the slot? I've had to bend the alignment tab at the end of a card before, so it would fully engage the slot on the back of my case and seat into the slot completely. It could be something, as simple as that.

Well damn, I guess it is the GPU... I switched the 9800GT back in and it works again... what now? I have a defective GPU :(

Ring up the place in which you purchased it from see if they will replace the card and do all the running round with Nvidia otherwise you may have to go straight to Nvidia and send it to them to repair/replace the card.

Okay so the card doesn't have a warranty on it... I need an inside man at EVGA! *looks at BBSK expectantly waiting for his useful friends*.

I traded my iTouch for it... does EVGA cover trades?

No warranty on anything purchased second hand, or from a non authorized retailer. Contact the guy you traded it for, if it was on a forum such as [h] they have a section to deal with bad sellers if they don't respond to PM.

^^ I would say you got ripped off! I would still contact evga and see what they can do for you. They might give you a discounted rate at getting it fixed. Otherwise your pretty much out of luck. Sell it on ebay for parts or repair and then buy a new one.

He's responding to PMs, but there's no way he can help me. He didn't activate his warranty :(
then send him the card back and have him send your itouch back.

EVGA does not offer out of warranty repairs.

I'm in contact with the buyer... His setup is similar to mine and he only sold the 260 because he got a 5850. I'm trying to see if he got shipping insurance.
