Radeon HD5870 FAQ

Hey all, thinking of buying myself a Radeon HD5870, please excuse my ignorance, I have not been keeping up with PC parts recently, and I highly regret it and want to get back into the game :P But, how many monitors can this Radeon HD5870 power? Wondering if I could replace my dual cards for one?

That should definantly be fine to run two monitors i have one (5870) and am very happy with the gpu power it produces.

you can get the original one that can power up to 3 monitors at one time or you can get a more expensive one with the ability to run 6 monitors at once. but remember if you want a 3rd (4th, 5th, or 6th) monitor, you'll need to get some adapters. you can get some passive ones that work well for around $20-$30 or an active one for somewhere around $90-$100 (haven't checked prices in a while so excuse me if i am off by a bit). i did hear about a new active adapter being released by someone for around $30 but i have zero information about that though.

Thanks, was just curious since a few have upto 6 mini display port connectors. Will probably just upgrade the 2900 to the 4870 and put the 5870 in as the main graphics card :)
