Memory help ...

Why do you not think your memory is working good? The only thing you can do is download and run memtest on it to make sure you don't have bad memory.

Well just reading the reviews said that it didn't automatically run at the stated speeds so I just wanted to see what they were at

What motherboard do you have? You may have to manually set the frequency and timings in the bios.

It just booted at JEDEC standards. Like said you will need to set the Speed/Timing and Voltage manually in the bios.

I have this mother board : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...423&cm_re=gigabyte_x58-_-13-128-423-_-Product

reading the reviews on the ram a lot of people did have to manually set it
how do I go about doing so in the bios?

edit: think i figured it out? Do i just change the multiplier till it says 1600? got it to say that but didnt save it. Also what voltage do I change to? 1.65? For the timing it didnt seem to be able to be changed. How do I change that or does it change automatically when you change the other settings

Yeah. 1600 with 7-8-7-20 at 1.65V. Take the timing off auto and you can change it.

ok i changed it to 1600 and voltage 1.64 last night and it is running fine, but when i was changing voltages there was only 1.64 or 1.66 i think and I chose 1.64 cause 1.66 and higher was red so worried me ha. But now checking the voltage it says its only at like 1.61. Does this matter? Should i increase the voltage or just change the timings?

Having to manually set the speeds is a common thing with most memory over 1333MHz most motherboards because the highest official supported speeds for AM3 and Intel chips at the moment is 1333MHz. It isn't an error, it is doing it right, just an annoyance

ok so i was searching for threads on here about this subject and I found one and they changed the cpu voltage on accident instead of the memory voltage.
Could I may have done that? Because I noticed the cpu did run a little hotter after i changed it.

Actually I went into the XMB settings and changed to profile 1... it set it to 1.65 v 1600 and 78720 timings but now i only have 4gb usuable memory???

ok for the millionth up date haha i got it back to 6gb's but i really would like to change it to the settings it advertises! So I really need help!
I know how to change the timings and it to 1600, but I can't figure out how to change the voltage without doing the XMB profile 1
