i hear alot of talk about OCZ ram not good, as in generic parts used.is it really as bad as people put it out there to be?i personaly never owed OCZ ram befor, but always thought they were pretty decent ram.i was looking into picking up some OCZ AMD black edition ram and seen alot of reviews sayin its junk.anyone have anything positive to say about OCZ ram?

OCZ make fantastic DDR2 ram,Ive been running mine overclocked for a long time now and its still running strong.

However i have also heard that their DDR3 line is junk from alot of places which is a shame so if its DDR3 ram your after id consider an alternative.

I have been running their DDR PC-3200 RAM for a long time in my old rig and it has been flawless the entire 4+ years I've owned it.

ya, its ddr3. so stay away from OCZ ddr3 ram?

Depends, certain hardware parts are not really compatible and others are.
In my opinion it is a hit and miss situation.
What works in one type of computer might not in another; that is reality.

I have 4x1 GB of their Platinum DDR2 800 that I bought about 3 years ago. It's still running great in my girlfriends machine.

However, their DDR3 Memory uses Elpida IC's, as far as I know. Really, really cheap, low quality stuff. They used to use Micro IC's in their DDR2 kits, which were miles ahead of what they use now.

OCZ DDR3 uses cheap memory chips which are apparently not that good. Also they have stopped producing RAM altogether i hear.

They're still making memory. They're not the only memory company having problems with DDR3. Mushkin and Corsair have had the same problem as well. Along with all of the other companies using Elpida Hyper ICs for their DDR3.

That's why I didn't choose Corsair or OCZ (normally companies I like) for my system.

If I remember correctly they stopped making lowend/budget memory sticks and sets. They should still be doing the high end stuff but i wouldn't buy it regardless.

My corsair hasn't been giving me trouble, but I did have to switch 4x1gb to 2x2gb, and then rma one of the 2gb sticks... corsair memory, the entire rma took about 2 weeks. (very nice corsair, thumbs up!)
