Best PhysX Card Performance/Dollar

Which of these cards would have the best price/performance for PhysX?
GTS 450
GTS 250
GT 240
GT 220
9800GT
9600GT
9500GT
9400GT

not sure if all those cards support physx though.
 
Probably the 9800GT, GT220, or GT240...

I think I own the best card for PhysX ever created... the BFG Tech 9800GT OC , which is AFAIK the highest clocked 9800GT. I don't use it for PhysX, it does really nice work playing games.

Is Nvidia going to release any lower end cards before the 6xx series? The 9800GT is still widely available but less Manufactures are making them... Pick one up now? XD
 
If i were looking for a card just for PhysX out of those choices then i would go for the GT 240 it doesn't cost all that much and it wouldn't use much extra power,i think the GTS 450 would be OTT.

If you think the GTS 450 would be over the top, I saw a guy Use a GTX 460 from EVGA (the superclocked one) with a GTX 275 for PhysX

Yeah, I see a lot of people running the 9800GT for their PhysX card. I was looking at cards that don't use too much power though.
 
well, in terms of raw power people would consider the 9800GT since it's the best (single) slot card.

also nvidia released a "go green" 9800GT a while ago that uses low energy and runs right off the pci-e slot w/o being directly powered by a psu pci-e 6pin connector.

the gts450 would be a beast PhysX card. Probably overkill but if you got $130 to spend....why not??? LOL. The question is, what's your main GFX card? Is the gts450 stronger???

Or, if the gts450 is out of the price range.......Instead of a 8800/9800gt, I would actually try and find an 8800gts 512mb card. 128 stream processors VS 112, and will clock higher too on the shaders. It's pretty much a gts250 with a lower price tag. Used ones go for around 9800gt pricing anyway, around $60-70.

Although, most 9800gt's are single slot so if you would rather not take up so much space than it's still plenty adequate for PhysX.

Edit- Don't get the ''green'' version, yeah it doesn't require a 6 pin but it's clocked much lower and will be worse for PhysX.

BTW, who says overkill is a bad thing??? :D

Yeah yeah, stock cooler but it's because I swap CPU's too much plus the 655k runs plenty cool even at 4.6ghz on the stock cooler. yay

I Was going to eventually put a black magic intensity pro in the system I plan on building, as well as maybe a sound card if it would fit...
Thats why I was looking at single slot cards.

Why don't you just get an all-socket cooler, how will swapping CPUs affect the cooler? (thermaltake frio anyone?)
Still, 4.6 on stock is pretty awesome
 
I would personally go with the 240. Sits in between a 9600GT and 9800GT, uses not a whole lot of power and there is a great range of them with single slot coolers

There is a single slot EVGA 9600GSO on the egg for $35 after MIR :eek: It is a slightly cut down 9600gt. It will be performing in between the 220 and 240 but the price is amazing for a Physx card
