Does the system bus (frontside bus) play a role in how fast your computer will run?

Does it? and if so, does it really matter what type of bus system i have? I figure mostly GHz and memory are going to matter the most for a fast computer. Is the bus system something i should really worry about. I only ask this because i might be getting a computer that has 8 gb of ram, but says no info on the bus system. So i don't know if this something i should really worry about or not?

The FSB (Front Side Bus) frequency is the speed that Northbridge and CPU communicate. So, yes it plays a role to the system performance especially if you do oveclocking. You need to know what the frequency of the FSB is so to buy appropriate RAM and CPU. For example, if your motherboard supports FSB freq of 800Mhz then you should buy RAM that support this frequency or else you may lose performance.

The site on looking at for this computer to buy, well

on the specifications page its not stating anything about the system bus for this computer but has stated so for other computers on the site. Should i worry about this? Below is the site i'm looking at,

It says 8 gig of ram Installed, 4 way processing ect.. But no info on system bus? I am thinking the system bus was too low that they didn't not display the info on the page. Umm idk. If the system bus is so low, is not really going to matter that i have 8 gig of ram installed? Because thats exactly what i'm thinking. They get my attention in one way ( 8 gigs of ram ) but then they hide that system bus info. makes me wonder if the system bus is low and if it will really matter if it is low.

You should worry for everything:confused: Apart from CPU you don't know what you buy. General specifications such as 2GB Memory RAM or 500 GB Hard Disk say nothing. Also there is no info on the motherboard and power supply manufacturers. Do you want more? FSB shouldn't be you concern... Know what you buy especially if you want a well performing pc.

Well, the FSB is part of how you get the ending speed of your cpu. It is FSB x the Multiplier. AMD uses a FSB of 200MHz and I believe (correct me if I am mistaken) Intel uses a FSB of 333MHz. Raising/lowering that number will increase/decrease the speed of both your cpu and ram. So they are connected a bit and changing that number will effect the performance of your system. But all of that is under overclocking. With a prebuilt system you will likely have no ocing ability whatsoever.

For now, don't worry about the FSB.
