HD5770 bottleneck?

Will an XFX HD5770 1GB bottleneck an AMD Athlon II x2 dual core 2.8GHz completely or will it be able to handle it decently?

should be good. if anything, it would probably be the other way around, especially with cpu intensive games like gta iv.

So if I would happen to play any (quad) cpu based games like GTA IV it's best with low settings or some ish? No high settings?

gta iv gives you a bunch of options and lets you know which ones depend on which component, allowing you to turn down the ones that really depend on the cpu and lets you turn up the ones that depend on the gpu. depending on your monitor, i'd say graphic options would be able to work fine with the 5770 on medium and possibly even high on some. but you'd probably have to have low settings for the ones that are cpu intensive.

Alright so the 5770 is good with medium and sh*t like that too?
My monitor supports a maximum of 1920x1080

the 5770 is an excellent card for the money.
1) what is your current setup?
2) assuming you haven't bought it yet, what kind of budget do you have?
3) what games are you going to play?

1)AMD Athlon x2 Dual Core 240, 2800Mhz (2.8Ghz)
Nvidia GeForce GT 220 1 GB
8 GB DDR2 RAM

2)The budget is in the range of the 5770, that's max I'll pay for a GPU because I'm getting a 650 watts PSU too.
3) I do play a lot of GTA IV.. One main reason i'm getting a new GPU is because it lags like hell and the FPS are awful. Lags like HELL. But otherwise like the Crysis series, MW 1 & 2 etc.

then i'd definitely go for the 5770. great card for the price. not sure if you'll see an insane increase in gta iv since the lagging could be caused (or caused partly) by the cpu. but the other games should see an increase in performance FOR SURE.

Alright, thanks.

In GTA IV the lag vary. When it's sunlight in the middle of the day the game flows nicely with like maybe 30+ fps, but when it is fog, rain or night the fps lower to 10-15. I don't have a frekkin clue why it lags while raining fog or night, do you?
I know this is partly the CPU, but, getting the 5770 would increase performance a little bit wouldn't it?

you should be able to see some performance increase or at least be able to have higher graphics settings (the ones that depend on the gpu) while having the same or better performance.

for the rain, this is just speculation, but i would assume that is due to the cpu having to render more things per frame.

Okay, I bet It'll deliver just fine, thank you for your help.
