Removing spammers

Hows this for an idea,everyone with over 500 points had the ability to delete
spammers who put adverts on,it would help you mods out.
 
Never happen, that is handing out the means to delete anyone not just spammers. Just think of the consequences of someone with more than 500 posts who gets pissed off and seeks a nice way to get revenge.

The "deletion" key is a powerful tool and doesn't know the difference between you, me or a spammer.

They have in the last few months increased the mods able to globally delete spamming members by making them "Supermods" and its a lot more effective now, and of course Mep916 is now an Admin with the ability to not only delete spammers but to make use of the CF electric chair.

Mods do their job pretty good so there is no need for that. Like TFT said, people can get revenge on others that way lol.
 
With great power come great responsibillity. I know cause it took me a year and a half to become a super mod on a forum.

For the OP, it will never happen. If one wants to become a mod (see requirements http://www.computerforum.com/52043-moderator-applications.html) then anyone can apply. If we were to give out the ban stick or even the delete twig to members then someone can easily come in and cause more work for the mod and admin team.

Be glad we trust you guys enough to post a thread :P there are some people that use that power and post SPAM.

Well said Brian!!! As said, it will never happen. We require users to be responsible enough to delete posts and ban users, which only supermods and admins have the responsibility of carrying the ban stick.

However we do need more actively posting moderators. We have a lot of mods that aren't posting because of other responsibilities. If you feel like you qualify to be a mod then please apply.
 
Why not just report the spammers? It's the admin/mods call, but at least the members can still help assist that way.

thats rude! without US the people, including you(befor you became Moderator)make this site happen.dont stand over us and say stuff like that.

Lighten up, the majority of posts in this thread are about having a friendly dig at one another and brians no exception.

Reminds me of the bullet proof grizzly bear quote. We strap mod jackets on spammers and people haters! YAY!

He can ban an IP address, not just the user. If he bans an IP, that user can never ever access the site at all ever again from that IP. Really keeps the spammers down, it does. Also used on special occasions, like April Fool's day, or when he gets real happy ;).
