Greetings guys.

I have a problem since the summer started with my new computer and I can't seem to get it fixed.

First, I will explain you my problem :

My problem is that I have a pretty good gaming computer and I can't seem to run any game correctly. I can set up the graphics relatively high, but all the time, I get some random slow downs, some textures look weird and I get some kind of '' Resistance '' when I move my mouse on the screen. It doesn't feel FLUID! It just doesn't feel right. On top of that, sometimes my browers crash, my youtube videos crash, explorer crash...my computer makes weird noise (all the pieces are brand new, wtf ?)

This is my setup :

Motherboard : Asus M4A89GTD-PRO/USB3
Chipset : AMD 785GX
CPU : AMD Phenom II X4 955 @ 3200 MHz
Physical memory (Gskill Ripjaw) : 4096 Mo
Graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 (got it a bit before the rest, but its not even 1 year old)
HD : WDC (640 Go)
Power Supply : Cooler Master 600 wat
Internet card : RTL8168/8111 PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
System : Windows 7 Ultimate Professionnel 6.01.7600 (x64)
DirectX : Version 11.00

This is what it looks like.. sorry if its dark http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h13/Emezim/2010-10-1616-33-59778.jpg

With that setup I should be able to run pretty much all recent games correctly, no ??

Let me first explain you all I'v done to try and fix my problem.

  • I changed my power supply from 500 to 600, no change.
  • I sent my motherboard back to the manufacturer, got a new one, same problem.
  • I tryed some new DDR3 memory, same problem.
  • I bought a crazy ass power bar to make sure I don't get interference, same problem. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h13/Emezim/2010-10-1616-32-52134.jpg
  • I uninstalled my antivirus, my games ran correctly for like 3 hours... then same problem came back.
  • I uninstalled and reinstalled windows 7 about 9 times, problem came back every time.
  • I'v done memory and CPU test, no problem found.
  • I'v cleaned my computer of all the dust.
  • I'v bought a new crazy ass case to make sure my parts don't get too hot. My temps are always around 37 to 47.
  • I spent about 650 $ this summer only to try and fix the problem and I still can't play my games correctly. I still feel that there's something not right going on.
  • I played Battlefield bad company 2, Borderlands, Fallout new vegas, oblivion... name it, I played a lot of games. I still get crashes, slow downs, lag...

I'm so tired of this guys... I'm about to cry. I'm flat broke, I spent all my money on this computer and I can't even enjoy it...Would any of you have any idea what is going on with my computer ?Any trick ? Program ? Test ? Ideas ? I just don't know what to do guys...I'm out of money and I can't send it to the computer shop I usualy go too, its about 40 $ an hour.

So thats pretty much it, thank you in advance if you can help me, I'm just an honest gamer who's trying to play the games he always wanted to play correctly.

Sorry for my horrible english BTW guys. It ain't my native language.

Alright, I tested my GPU with FurMark, and I just don't know how to interpretate de results.

This is the results :

SCORE:1467 points (60000 ms)

Max GPU Temp: 72°C

Resolution: 1600x1200 (FS) - MSAA: 4X

FPS: min=22 max=35 avg=25

Is this good or bad considering my computer parts ??

Those results look fine. With the problems you're having, video related crashes, weird textures, etc, the next logical test would be to beg or borrow another GPU and see if the problem disappears.

i doubt it is the problem but you could maybe try stress testing the cpu and see if it is unstable.

what happens when the youtube videos, your browsers, and explorer crash? bsods or just the "not responding" stuff?

nice thread title by the way :P:P

As said already, looks like you've tried everything except a different graphics card, which probably should have been the first thing tested, since your issues are graphic related. Hindsight ya know. :good:

Indeed, it would seem logical with my description that the first thing to do would be to try a new GPU, but the thing is, how does this explain Windows explorer crashes ? Firefox crashing (not even wanting to OPEN) ?

If it was purely graphical, I would have tryed a new GPU a long time ago but its doing so many different and weird errors and slowdowns that I just don't know where its comming from.

I don't know how I'll get a new GPU to try, I'm flat broke and all my friends are Ps3 players, so they don't own good graphic cards. Arg.

That's why I asked for a GPU tester of some sort, just to make sure its that... I'v tryed a lot of programs but none of them detect an error or they are far too complex for my understanding.

Anyway, thanks for the help guys!

I'll do all I can to try and get a GPU somewhat...to test if its the problem

I think it could be one of three problems:

1) graphics processing unit problem
2) hard drive problem
3) processor problem

I would assume it is likely either option number one or two that is giving you problems.
