Vista to Windows 7?

Hi All

is it worth me upgrading to Windows 7?
My PC runs well and I have had almost zero problems over the 3yrs i have had this PC. I have upgraded various parts and cloned a larger hard drive, whilst keeping the original for backup if need be. I now wonder if upgrading to Windows 7 is a viable proposal given the way my PC is running? I'm led to believe that Windows 7 would take less space to run and therefore allow my PC to run better and i suppose more efficiently.

I'd welcome your input.

Acer Aspire T180
AMD Athlon 64x 2, 4200+ 2.2GHz
2GB ram
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit

Windows 7 does use less ram than vista does. I would say overall your system should run better on 7 then vista. Have you already bought 7?

Windows 7 does run more efficient that Vista,But if your happy with how Vista is and its not caused you any problems then i dont see the need to upgrade to be honest.

Id wait until when you buy/build a new pc then just get the X64 bit version of Windows 7.

I would upgrade but I would add an extra Gig of RAM, reason being after a couple of months it tends to get slow.

Really? I've been running 7 with 2.5 GB RAM for over 4 months now. And I have a link in my sig where I ran 7 with much less than required. Without any modifications too.

no i havnt got 7...its maybe a christmas gift i can suggest from family who dont really know what to buy me

The differences are really nil between the two. Windows 7 has a bit more of the under-the-hood changes over Vista. Otherwise, they are almost identical in technology. Plus if you take in account the Vista Service packs they are almost the same OS.

I think windows 7 is a bit better, but not sure if it is worth the $100+ upgrade. Now, if they did what apple did and allowed vista users to upgrade for $29 then yeah go for it.
