4850 on the way out?

Hey everyone. I have been noticing recently that I get these messed up lines through web pages and other applications. COD flipped out and started showing the screen at different angles once. It happens in both Windows and Ubuntu, so I'm guessing that it has something to do with my hardware. So what do you guys think?

Here is what it looks like. It usually is gone in a second but this time it stayed around long enough for me to get a screenshot.

Thanks in advance!

Yes it's going out. Got any old games like the command and conquer red alert 2 ones? with the isometric view. my 460 is having issues with 2d clocks and does a similar thing to in your screenshot, only over the while screen.

I recommend you start an RMA with XFX. Just tell them you've tried the card in multiple systems and it is unstable during 2d and 3d applications to get the ball rolling.

I have the demo to Civ V. I don't know if that is what you meant but I'll mess with it and see if that has any trouble with the isometric view. Thanks for the help Linkin.

Just to update for anyone who wants to know...

The 4850 was not dying. It was a bad update from Catalyst Control Center. I un installed the drivers to switch to an extra gpu that I have and after CCC was gone, the card ran flawlessly again. I'm still on the hunt for the updated files that caused the problems in Ubuntu.

Just a bummer that I already ordered another card for $215 to replace one that is just fine. :(

Which card did you order?

Also Catalyst 10.10 is out.

I ordered the MSI GTX 460. I was thinking of upgrading to this card for a while. I'm kinda excited to see how it performs.

@StrangleHold

I was 90% sure that it was failing when I posted the new thread. I found it by accident. I can't really expect that anyone would have caught CCC for the problem.

This is the first time that I have ever heard of it causing problems like this. For now, I'm just going to stay away from CCC.
