GTX 295 upgrade?

Is there anything out there that currently is a worthwhile upgrade from a GTX 295? I know there are cards out there that are better, but I mean if I sold the GTX 295 from my current setup and put that towards another video card.

I saw the Radeon 6870 but it seems it doesn't perform better than my current card, which is silly. But what about anything else that's coming out or is out that I just over looked?

what kind of budget do you have?

EDIT: right now i would say that you really don't have any reason to upgrade. the 295 still beats even the newer gtx470 from nvidia and like you said the new 6870 from amd doesn't beat it either. no need to upgrade just yet.

GTX295 is still very powerful card. I'd wait till HD69** series come (november I think) and then depending on your budget, either get a HD6970 (replacement to HD5870) or 6990 (replacement to 5970)

Those will be VERY VERY powerful :)
295s still fetch quite a bit of cash

I don't want to spend anymore than $150-$200 once I sell the GTX295. Hopefully I can sell it for $150 or so.

EDIT: I want to sell the GTX 295 before the new cards come out so I can still make a nice penny off it. It still runs games no problem, just want to upgrade because i'm greedy.

I'd even sell it and wait a bit just because I know newer stuff is coming out. I just want to make sure that it's gonna be worth the wait.

definitely stick with it then. like fastdude said there should be more powerful cards coming out soon from amd. but even then you really shouldn't have too much of a need to upgrade since the 295 still packs a pretty good punch.

EDIT: well, if you really NEED to sell it and want to spend around $200 or so, i would go for a 6870 then. but do note that you'll probably be losing performance by upgrading so it really doesn't make sense to upgrade unless you spend more money.

I guess i'll wait until the 6970 comes out since history shows it should be roughly $330 or so (Give or take $20-$30) while the 6990 is more likely to be over $500. Plus, I imagine the 6970 will consume very similar power compared to the GTX 295. I imagine the 6990 would require a PSU upgrade.

not necessarily (psu upgrade). i would imagine that the 6990 (if that is the final name for it) would perform around the 5970 or better but would probably consume much less power (the 5970 requires like 650 watts for a single one). i would be willing to bet you'd be fine getting a 6990 and running it with that psu. we'll see what the requirements are soon hopefully...

With a GTX 295 id stick with what you have,Unless you want to play games to their full potential in DX11 such as BC2,Metro 2033,Medal of Honor,Aliens vs. Predator etc.

This sounds really good, i my self have installed liquid cooling into my desk top at home, this circulates cool water around the cpu, gpu and hard drives, its a really great system and it is keeping my system very stable :)

If you want, you could perhaps get another GTX 295 and do- ATI calls it crossfire -anyways, it usually isn't as good as a good video card upgrade, but since the GTX 295 is pretty much the best thing out there, until something else comes out, your only option pretty much is to buy another one and use them both together, if you PSU can handle that.
