Good match for this CPU?

I'm going to build a low cost system, and I was wondering what would be a good match for a Athlon II 445. I don't want it to be much more than $100 if possible. I was thinking 5750 or 5670?

I was thinking about DX10 cards. GTX 260 c216 is a little bit above my price range.
I think it would be nice to have DX11 so I might wait for newer releases.

Anyways, I'm going to spend a little extra on a motherboard with the Core unlock feature, just incase it can be unlocked to a Phenom II Tri or Athlon II Quad, Etc.

I've got an GTX460 with DX11 and I personally think it delivers great performance within the current priceranges. Consumes very little power and doesn't get that much heated up in load.
You could also run them in SLI later down the road if you want to push out more performance.

Check out the priceranges on newegg or any other store ya like

I would really like a GTX 460 but I don't want to spend much more than $100

Then consider getting maybe a HD5450 or a GT430, since you said you're not gaming that much and they both support DirectX11.

HD5450:

GT430:

They support it, but won't be able to use it. Look at games with DX11: BF:BC2, DiRT 2, F1 2010, MoH, Civ 5.

None of those games would be playable in DX11 qwith either of the cards listed because they don't have the power for it, they aren't deisgned for gaming, and won't be able to in the latest DX11 games. The only thing DX11 is with those cards is a marketing point, it is like integrated graphics that "support DX10.1 " they may be able to use the technology, in theory, but in practice, they won't

I still stick by 4850 or 4870 would be the best choice, however if you are desperate for a newer card than 2 gens ago, you can get a 5750, but it won't be performing anywhere near a 4870 will

It should have also been asked what power supply you will be using with this set up, no point spending this much money on a card if whatever power supply you have/pick can't power it

He said himself earlier in the thread that he won't be doing barely any gaming at all, read before posting a reply

It is still pointless to get a DX11 card that can't utilise DX11, may as well only spend $30 on a GT210 or 220 because they will do the exact same as the 5450 will, which is play videos and that is about it. The fact that he said he would like a GTX460 would say that he wants the best performance for the budget, which is what a 4870 will give, and in the gaming he will be doing, it will allow him to play on highest possible settings. For the budget and use, it is the best option

As for power supply, I will probably be using a Modular Corsair 520w.

What can a 5750 do? In comparison with the 5770.

Oh, and what can the 4850 and 4870's do?

either of the 5000 series cards are DX11
the 4000 series are DX10

for now, the 5770 can max out near enough all games @ 1280x1024, but start to lag a little at higher resolutions, 5750 can handle high settings at those resolutions. As newer games come out, that will slip. They also support eyefinity (3 monitors being 1 screen), but not in games, it will be too many pixels to drive. A5770 is also just outside your price range

4870 outperforms the 5750 by a mile, and in most cases, outperforms a 5770. Only thing lacking is DX11 and eyefinity

A 200 series vs. a 4870 would be a GTX 260. If you want a little better, throw in a few more bucks and get a 6850.
