ok... what i have right now.. is a gateway dx4840, only thing different is that i have a geforce 9800gt gpu... specs here:

http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668687.php

i want something better... that i can OC... gateway seems to have nulled that option... anyways, i would like some input.

i like the i5 650... but if there is something better that is still practical in cost, point me to it! this will be my first computer build.. and i want to do it right!

i dont know what to do about mobo's... that is where i am at the biggest loss... that and cooling... i know a little about ram, gpu's, power supplies and hdd's. so yeah... just point me to the best quality brands for those.

Lucky you, and Ironic. I just made this post for info. Its a great build, check it out.

$900 with shipping and tax already in. Will play anything, a small few that it won't be able to completely max out.

if you need an OS, order it as well, but like I mentioned you can save $80 by ordering the cpu from micro center. I live next to one, its great.

i'm not sure i like the choices there...

besides my hdd... what are the weak links in my choices?

You might consider the X6 overkill, but hey, it's your monster.

Without digging too deeply, I'd say you've got a strong build. :good:

i was thinking the same thing about the x6... but i kinda like the idea of not having to upgrade anytime soon... but at the same time, i bet the minute i get this thing running, is the same minute the x6 goes down in price because of those kids that invented the new chip material...

another thing that i am curious about, is 3D gaming???

i have a 22" viewsonic LED screen with full 1080p. which makes it 3d compatible right? so what about the gfx card that i have selected? does it support the 3d option?

i want to see what starcraft 2 is like in 3d since it now offers that. but what all do i need in order to do so???

hmm, i didn't think my build was that bad..

the gtx 460 is way better. dual gpu won't matter when he has a 550watt psu...

By the time the gtx 460 goes out of date, he will just upgrade to another single slot solution.

Instead of being negative, just explain why the other one is better, bodaggit

The new build looks great. And unless it was an accident, you have two sets of 2x2gb ram. Drop one set to make it cheaper.

i liek the athlon II x4's great for the money, and make good matches for the 5770. The only weak link i see in the build is that psu. got great ratings and is very good, but it will hold you back from upgrading or expanding into more hard drives now or later. if thats not an issue then you're all set.

i want the 8gb ram... i am used to 6gb right now... dont wanna downgrade there..

as for the psu, i have a few external drives... and i havent even filled those up..

but if the price is reasonable compared to the one i have listed already... i wouldnt mind looking into it!

I didn't say it was a bad build, just that the GPU wasn't the best match for the board.

If you're building with single GPU in mind, find a board with single PCI-E, they're almost always cheaper.

I apologize if my comment was taken negatively. :o

maybe this one is better choice?

might also go better with the light scheme... lol

I'd pass on that PSU.

Kyleswitch has a point with the RAM. You probably don't use near your 6GB of RAM currently,
and most people will never use 4GB of RAM either.

Most people agree that Seasonic is the best, but I've never used one.

I prefer Corsair, because they're a good brand and their customer service is second to none, should anything happen.
