I know its a Dual core,But it has 2 threads aswell... i read these Overclock like a beauty and on one site they said the G6950 dont even sweat at 4.6Ghz with the right cooling,Although i heard Tomshardware killed one at 4.5Ghz

I wouldnt push it that far though,Maybe 4Ghz.

I already have a 1156 mobo waiting.. (Gigabyte GA-P55-US3L Intel P55)

Im tempted to get one because theyre so cheap at only £65,Id only have to get some DDR3 Dual channel ram then,And i could always upgrade to an I5 at a later date when they go down in price.

I cant seem to find how/if its all that much faster than my Q6600 @ 3.5Ghz....id assume it would be because i could overclock the hell out of it + id have faster ram? (1600mhz DDR3)

Well... I had my Pentium E6300 at 4GHz. 775 but anyway. Being a 32nm part the G6950 should overclock like a beast. you have a quad though.

Hmmm. In terms of multithreaded grunt you may lose a little, though at 4.2GHz plus the sheer speed will more than make up for it
I post this review alot, mainly because it just shows how a little plucky £65 chip can beat more expensive quad-cores when overclocked, and even when not OC'd gives the X4 a run for its money in gaming.

Yeah, your RAM speed would be higher, I think the max memory strap for the g6950 is 6. I haven't got one, but I'm kind of obsessed with it at the moment. i5-750 stock performance for under half the price...

I would definitely spend a bit more and get the i3 530 or 540. From my experience messing with the hyperthreading on my Pentium 4, the reason it can reach decent clocks is because it lacks hyperthreading. You're gonna lose a lot of the i3 and i5's advantage over the core 2 duo without hyperthreading. Plus, if you don't need 4 threads, you can disable the extra threads on the i3s and i5s and then overclock the crap out of them.
