Building Computer for first time

I would recommend going LGA1156. If you want to stay LGA 1366 you will need a triple channel memory kit.

Otherwise get i5 760 + your choice of motherboard + GTX 460/470 1Gb

It will be even than an i7 with a 5770 which will limit you at high resolutions.

You'll want a bit more headroom with the PSU as well, if you're intent on corsair have a look at the 650TX
 
You don't need to spend $176 on your operating system. Get Windows 7 for $85 Link

Or combo it with a MoBo for less Combo

If this is mainly going to be a gaming rig, maybe you'd consider the i5. It will save you money. i5-750 Games don't use the hyperthreading that you'd be getting from the 950. If you are heartset on the 950, they are $200 instore at MicroCenter.

i have no intent on corsair PSU. i just want a PSU with enough volts to power my setup and is compat with i7 and is at a fairly low price

any other fixes i have to do? and do i need a wireless networking card for this? i only have a wireless router...

The motherboard you list is an 1156 socket. It will fit an i5-750 but not an i7-950 which needs a 1366 socket.

If he went that route, he wouldn't need a 650W PSU either then. I'm just thinking about consolidating the cash he'll be spending for the best bang/buck. He doesn't mention OC'ing. Dropping the aftermarket cooler would save some cash. Also, the hyper212+ I think is $15 right now if he does want something besides the stock. Link
