I gave it a shot. There are a few components (MoBo, GPU) that I'd want to get some reviews on. I went with your thought of less for the case to replace the 5770 with a 460. I also went with a 750 PSU so you'd be more comfortable adding a second card eventually. I think it's a better MoBo, GPU, PSU, and CPU. The case is a downgrade, but the case that's included below is Really popular and well liked.

Any particular reason on choosing the 970? the 970/965/955 are all the same chip anyway, just with a different default multiplier.. so it doesn't really matter unless you're aiming at extreme overclocking.

Could save some money and grab a 955.

will 460 better than 6850? i am thinking about getting 6850.

I saw it was on sale, but if the difference isn't noticeable then a 955 would save another $35. And it looks like a 460 would slightly outperform a 6850 but I'd still rather have the 6850. I believe the 6850 uses less power, is cooler, can be crossfired on the AMD board, and scales really well.

Also, for $15, I'd throw in one of these unless you had another in mind.

You could put 1 460 on an AMD board, but you can't use 2. My understanding is that the 6850 scales really well when you use 2 of them together.

I would also take some time and do a little research. You will probably get some feedback here from people who know computers much better than I do.

i can use one 460 but i can not do sli on that board you recommend.
i don't know i am gonna get other card. not sure about it, but maybe 1-2 yrs later i might put another card. do you think it's worth it to put another 6850 1-2 yr later? b/c i believe single 460 or 6850 can play any game that is on the market.
 
I would like to have the option of adding a second card. In 2 years a 6850 won't be very expensive and the games will probably be more demanding than they are today.

yep that is true. but i'm not sure that 2 of 6850 will handle it. do people start with sli? or they do sli later on? like 1 card and another one 1 yr later.
 
As far as I'm aware the 6850 is superior to the 460, but the 460 is ever so slightly cheaper (at the moment)

That is a great price for memory and GSkill has a good reputation. I would love to have that Asus 6850 also. Asus is a really well respected brand.

According to this the 6850 and 460 give almost identical avg. frame rates in sli/xfire (slight edge to the 6850). Actually, the 2 cards are right next to each other in single card format as well(same article). If it were me I'd do some research before hand, but I'd want to get the 6850.
