help on graphics cards!

hello
i was wondering if the ati crossfire would work on a nvidia 680i motherboard or if it would be better to go with nvidia's SLI mode
in crossfire i was looking at 2 ati HD5770 1GB
and in SLI i was looking at 2 Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB
any help would be appreciated thank you :)
 
doesnt look like the board supports cf.
if you dont have a card right now a single card solution may be better.
 
well i did have a graphics card but it frazzled so im going to get something better
would yoou recommend liquidcooling for graphics cards?

No, not unless you have an extreme-high-end rig. Even the hottest Graphics cards (e.g. GTX480) can be tamed with a decent custom *air* cooler.

Watercooling with the cards mentioned in the OP would be a waste of money and absolutely pointless.
 
Typically, one good card will beat two cheaper ones. An Nvidia GTX 460 would be pretty good, and they do very well in crossfire so you can add one later.

One GTX460 1GB will be able to play crysis on high @ 1680x1050.
The framerates are nearly playable at very high settings with 16x AF; high shouldn't be too much of a challenge
