i5-760 or i7-950

Well thats interesting, because I've personally done testing with gtx460's x16 VS x8 and noticed a slight loss in the benches. Nothing significant, but there was a loss....and this is a gtx460 not a 480.
That link never states what the P55 setup is. They say the X58 setup is a 920 at 3.6ghz, but never state what ram is used or the speed or anything.

There isn't a P55 setup. They only bring up the P55 because of the fact that most P55 motherboards can only do SLI at a maximum of x8/x8. They then go on to test the difference of running SLI at x16/x16 versus x8/x8. The X58 system is used in order to control variables as much as possible and only have the PCI-E bandwidth as the possible bottleneck in performance. I'm not sure what the RAM is either and I can't find out what settings they use for the RAM. I have a faint memory of reading an article where they went through their test system in detail. I'll have to see if I can find it.

Oh I missed that the first time, I see it now they used the tape method to make it X8. Well, I still don't think thats the same as comparing a P55 to an X58. Perhaps X8 doesn't make as much difference on the X58 chipset as it does with the P55, which is what I tested on.
