Who has really old hard drives they still use?

I have had a 74.5 gigabyte Western Digital Model WD800 Parallel ATA hard drive since August 2003. It is still working great with probably about 5 years of use on it. The computer does get turned off at night though. I still use it to backup valued data. I do not expect that it will last me more than another two years but I could be wrong.

Who else has really old hard drives that they still use?

My dad has a Dell 2400 that has two WD ide hard drives and I am guessing they are at least 6 or 7 years old and still going strong.

That build is about to be retired. I just built him an i5 760 build.

If he has a Pentium 4 (3.06 gigahertz) Single-Core processor in his old Dell 2400 build, the Core i5 760 Quad-Core processor has about 9 times more processing power. He should certainly notice the boost in processing power.

Go ahead and use as another internal. Or may be good candidate for a external. the cases alone are cheap enough. More than one back up is ok. Ya won't be loosing both backups at same time. just learn how to sync the files and duplicate. (master backup to 2nd backup).

Have an ancient 10GB WD that i've used for linux installs in the past, or to transfer some files from one computer to another since my largest flash drive is 4Gb.

Speaking of oldies, Ive got a 20GB Seagate PATA! I bought it with my Pentium 3 system on May 2003. The system is still running and kicking! :)

I still have an old 8GB PATA drive that is at least 10 years old by now. It is still in use in one computer that is mainly used for going on the internet.

The oldest drive i have is a Seagate Barracuda 120Gb 7200rpm IDE drive,Its about 5 years old i think,Still works perfect.

I have this 1.2gb western digital ide hard drive is more than 15 years old run on Novell netware server 4.11 over MS DOS 6.22. it is in a pentium 150mhz. it run 24/7 hosting Peachtree version 8 accounting software.

Man alive! A 1.5 gigabyte hard drive with a Pentium 150 megahertz processor? I didn't know such personal computers could still be useful.

whew, my hard drive is still young. I only started using a computer ten years ago and I still have my 20gb hard drive alive as an external hard drive.
