How to treat a Li-ion laptop battery

recently I got a notebook, I am yet to activate the battery, in the past I have heard a lot of talking about battery lives and how it can be extended if it is used properly, have you got any suggestions how to do it...

I am an over-active user of computer, my notebook is turned on at least 18 hours a day, it equals to have recharged batter at least 3 times a day...which is not normal. i get nervous when i have a laptop and have to stay stationary just to save my battery, so how should I act...

should I keep it non stop plugged in the notebook, should i keep the laptop non stop in adapter, should i keep the battery out of notebook with a given amount of voltage in it?

If you don't move it around too much I'd take out the battery and just run from the adapter.

Drain the battery at least once a month.
Remove from the charger as soon as it says it is fully charged.

^^ What he said. Whenever my battery is totally charged, especially on my more stationary laptop, I take it out and just run off the power supply until I need it again. I have yet to need to ever buy a new laptop battery. (knocks on wood)

The only thing you can try is doing a complete discharge, letting the system fully drain the battery and cut off, then do a deep charge overnight without turning the laptop on. I doubt it'll fix it though.

Who's question are you answering?

Lithium ion batteries actually prefer to be stored with a partial charge (40%), rather than full, FWIW.:D
